Using the media search tool

The media search tool located at the right hand side of the page is a powerful tool for finding content. With that being said these are some tips to help you get the most out of the media search tool:
- Search by an items ISBN or UPC code if available. For instance, if I do a search for "Reservoir Dogs" selecting type "DVD" I will get about 10 different results. If I search for "012236128472" and select type "UPC, ISBN, EAN, ASIN" my exact match is displayed.
- If you are cataloging huge dvd/cd/book collections a cheap barcode scanner will allow you to speed up the cataloging process. You can also find free software that will convert your webcam into a UPC scanner as well.
- If a UPC or ISBN isn't available for the item you are trying to find pick the appropriate category that it falls into and then search for the title of the product. If you are unable to find your product select "Any Media Type" as the media type. In the future you can create custom catalog items that can't be found in the current system. This will allow you to catalog unique items you own when they don't exist in our database.
